Self Control & Discipline

When discipline is missing and self-control is optional, no vow,
no ring,
no history of good times, no title
will magically teach you how to respect, to honor-
or to resist
the lust of the eyes, the taste of another's lips,
the stroking of pride,
or the urge that keeps calling your name.
Love won't save
what accountability refuses to confront.
Character is built in honesty.
In healing.
In the work we stop avoiding and finally begin doing.
Drop the excuses.
Release the reasoning.
Face the truth.
Understand the power that lives in integrity-in being a person someone can be naked with, breathe around,
and know their heart, their body,
their life, their spirit are safe.
Become your best self-not just for them,
but for you.
